I'm taking the Write 31 Days Challenge!

write31days.com
It's that time again!  Almost October, and time for the Write 31 Days Challenge.
I'm taking the challenge again, writing, or hoping to write, for 31 days.

This year, I've changed my blog a bit, I won't have interviews the way I did two years ago, but I might have a few. Last year taught me that I need to be reliant on myself instead of hoping that I can get interviews from other people.

October's 31 days will be filled with art, crafts, jewelry making,  writing tips and organization, some fun thrown in here and there, and we'll call it My 31 Days~2017.

I'll share the link to my pages and offer the invitation to follow along for the fun. The page is my Subject page with a list of subjects for each of the days, click on the link for the day and it will take you to the page.  Please feel free to share :)

Does writing in a challenge sound like fun to you?  Join in at write31days.com . It is a free writing challenge, you can link your blog and share your content with other writers as well as so many people that want to read what you are sharing. It's fun, it doesn't have to take up your whole day, and it is FREE!

Week 3- Year of Jewelry Project

I've made it his far, hopefully I won't run out of steam for the next 49 weeks!

The theme this week was Weaving and braiding. I didn't stick to the theme really, but this is my interpretation of it.

A knotwork piece that I make over and over again because I love the shape.

This week it is made of enamel on copper. I haven't finished the chainmaille that will connect it with the necklace, I scuffed up the links and thought I need to redo them.

Week 2, 2017 Year of Jewlry Project-- Water Lilies by Claude Monet

Week 2

The water lily pond at the Giverny home of Claude Monet has been painted more than most famous buildings.  Monet painted it over 250 times over the years...

This week in the YOJ Project is an interpretation of this famous painting... or paintings. Which gives a wide spectrum of colors to choose from!

I chose what I thought was a greener painting... but it came out that I was not even close to what I saw and what I created...

but here it is!

Week 1 - 2017 Year of Jewelry Project-- Self Portrait

Week 1

I did it... I signed up for the Year of Jewelry Project again! I had a great year in 2015, but 2016 was a fizzle... I worked,  and worked a lot on jewelry... just never had time or the inclination to actually take photos of more than a few of my pieces.

This year... I'm off to a good start. I have created two pieces so far, a necklace and a matching bracelet.

The theme is "Self Portrait" and I think I captured myself pretty well. The pieces are a monotone, black to silver done in a flat Peyote stitch, which is one of the first stitches I ever learned how to create.

The beads are 11/0 triangle seed, so it is not large, the necklace is also made up of crystal, glass, and metal. The focal pendant is a piece of polished lava with crystals and a metal spacer bead. The clasp is an s hook and loop.
The bracelet is made up of 11/0 triangle seed beads as well with the polished lava and crystals as a focal.  I get frustrated with Blogger for not allowing you to turn a picture... so the bracelet is vertical.
